[On break] Our end of the valley

Daniel Lee, Nightlife (detail)

This is an On Break post, which as you’ve noticed, means lots of book promotion. Regular posting resumes April 4th.

Yup, it’s true, the Uncanny Valley concept is totally overused and has been extended way past its initial formation. I use it in my book but I try to stay close to Masuhiro Mori’s 1970 paper. I’m addressing whether real people are actually safely “out of the valley” – when you look at them without Man/Beast exceptionalism in play.

And do I ever check into women and booze in the next part of that chapter. That’s a surprisingly naughty novel Wells wrote.

That goes way past naughty. That’s modern blasphemy – the best social science fiction you can find.
